As the saying goes, an AI won't necessarily replace you. But a human using AI will.

Don Draper had one of the first laptop computers in this little known spinoff show from 2009 called “Laptop Men.” In this episode, a particularly zaftig and as ever, dressed in emerald green Joan roasts ol’ Don for having a really fucked-up looking AI hand. He says pointedly in response, “Yeah? Well, my fucked-up AI hand doesn’t think about you at all.” And Joan is so owned.

Do you ever go on Twitter?

If you ever—and I mean ever—go on Twitter, you are likely aware that one of the most headache-inducing problems with the AI scene right now is that it has been totally flooded with hustlebros screaming at you, nonstop and full tilt, “CHATGPT IS SO YESTERDAY’S NEWS! HERE ARE 69 NEW AI TOOLS YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU DON’T WANT TO FALL BEHIND AND DIE IN A FIRE!”

And well—this is all very much silliness.

Especially because the majority of these tools being suggested are often using the exact same OpenAI tech that powers ChatGPT (but are just put in a new “wrapper”) which makes the screaming proclamation all the more silly.

But I, my dear reader, will never bullshit you.

My goal in life with Ignore Previous Directions is to help you be a savvier consumer and bullshit-proof you and your loved ones and your little dog too as much as possible in this, The New Bullshit Economy.

And, even more excitingly, to share with you all the great, killer, value-laden things I’ve spent hours scouring the Internet to find to make your life easier and better and smarter.

That means helping you navigate this brave new world with a savvier lens so that you don’t fall prey to every marketing funnel that leads you down the squeeze-path in order to spend $2,000 on a course that is not even half as good as the one that is actually free but you just didn’t know about it because the folks behind it didn’t spend a small nation’s GDP in Facebook retargeting ads getting it in front of your eyeballs.

So today, let’s talk about the best, most exciting courses out there right now—some of which are currently free…but won’t be forever.
