Rabbitholed #65: The Bucket Bunny vs. Lineman Wife Catfight on TikTok is Sexist, Regressive and Wildly Real
"Bitches, bitches," one line wife who infers she is Head Bucket Bunny begins. "If your man is cheating with a bucket bunny that is not her fault. You know they're going to come right back to you!"
Today’s Rabbithole:
“Bitches. Bitches, I’m a line wife and I woke up today and TikTok is wilding,” an attractive brunette, hand on her head who has proclaimed herself as the “Head Bucket Bunny” begins her prophecy, “if your man is cheating with a bucket bunny that is not her fault, that is not her fault.”
In the background as she talks, you can hear her husband—a lineman I’m deducing!—coughing and then barking work orders and talking smack. “Nah, it’s huge, it is fucking huge, and they have parks around it!” he’s saying, unaware that she’s recording.
The Head Bucket Bunny continues.
“Plus, you know they’re just going to come right back home, right back to you,” she comforts. “So stay calm until they get back. This shit is wild! Or at least wait until they come back and get that storm check, and then be like, oh is this you? And then show all the proof you have…”
She’s talking about Tinder, where video after video has emerged showing the number of linemen who are in Florida to help restore power after the devastation of Hurricane Ian…suddenly showing up on the app as prospective singles nearby.
The HBB wraps it up, rubbing her eyes and looking heavenward.
“I can’t relate,” she says with a smile, “because I got blessed with a good man but um, prayers and thoughts to all you women that might be going through that because woooo! I'd be in jail."
“What is a bucket bunny?” you might be asking right about now (although you intuitively know; you know deep within your bones of all that is real and true). What is this essential nonessential drama? If you do not know, I am going to explain it to you…because that is not your fault.
