Two years ago, PewDiePie jokingly worried that CoComelon—a gratingly obnoxious and omnipresent kids’ channel—might one day soon overtake his in popularity. In 2021, he even made a fairly hilarious diss track about it.
So how powerful is CoComelon now?
This week on Tubefilter the kids’ channel fully eclipsed PewDiePie at the No. 1 spot. In fact, they were also easily able to pressure the Google-owned site into censoring PewDiePie’s comedy video—taking it down entirely—on the grounds of “bullying.”
Imagine that kind of intimidation and coercion pull, and you’ll have a window into the most powerful children’s entertainment brand currently operating in the world.
The only problem? Well, the parents of all those toddlers being stupefied into submission as “entertainment” are increasingly restless and unhappy about what’s happening to their kids. Moms in fact are starting to band together and rise up, asking the same question across social media, again and again.
Namely: What in the living fuck is CoComelon doing to our kids?
